Teaching taught me that you have to be patient with your athletes – Johno Fergusson

Johno Fergusson moved to the United States in August 2011. A native of South Africa, he gained much of his coaching experience in his hometown of Pietermaritzburg. Working alongside Olympic Coaches Alastair Hatfield and Graham Hill. Johno grew up playing a number of sports all through High School representing his Province/State in Rugby, Cricket, Swimming, Water polo, Field Hockey, Soccer and Track & Field). It was his passion for water that always brought him back to swimming and he mainly specialized in breaststroke and IM. While swimming at college in South Africa, he earned a degree in sports science and sports management. Over the past three years, he served as the Head Coach of Ford Aquatics. He brings a wealth of experience and ideas from his successful coaching and teaching jobs at the High School level, his time coaching at Sunday Tribune Penguins in South Africa and Ford Aquatics in Tucson. In 2013 he was voted as the Arizona Senior Coach of the year.
